There's a specific moment in a great DJ set where you stop just hearing the music and start living inside it. For APSŪ, that exact transformation is the whole point. "I love the chance to experience something totally new," he says. "Life's surprises are really what keep me going."
Since first stepping behind the decks in 2018, the Belo Horizonte-based artist has built a world that flows fluidly between DJing, music production, and teaching. As both a producer and a mixing instructor, APSŪ has developed a signature style that values deep emotional connection just as much as technical skill. His sets seamlessly weave together house, techno, electro, tribal bass, and breaks, but he’s just as likely to drop in quiet, soulful moments of MPB, jazz, and soul. The result? A musical journey that shifts effortlessly between high-energy dancefloor intensity and quiet introspection.
That approach has made him a vital part of Belo Horizonte's underground scene. Playing for boundary-pushing collectives like Caos, ODD, Silvertape, Dando, Covil, Blum, Festival Sarará, Festival Sensacional, and Escola de Mistérios, APSŪ has earned a reputation for sets that put human connection above club conventions. Today, he’s helping shape the city's electronic landscape as a resident for Festa Avulsa, Tumulto, Function FM, and Festa Transa, alongside running his own project, Mokado.
When RADIO INTROE approached him with the theme of New Beginnings, it couldn't have come at a better time. "The invitation arrived on a day when I was deep in my own thoughts," he explains. "I was getting ready to practice mixing out on my terrace after an intense weekend out with my clubbing friends. I felt this massive wave of inspiration to see life unfold in a fresh way, both for myself and my community. It was perfect timing."
Instead of treating renewal like a sudden, dramatic plot twist, APSŪ sees it as an ongoing practice, a constant cycle of learning, unlearning, and choosing how to move through the world. In fact, some of his most important fresh starts came from simply allowing himself to be vulnerable.
"A major new beginning for me was just learning to live and express my feelings out loud," he says. "I often had to lay my soul and my story completely bare just to start over. Figuring out what healthy cycles looked like for me, in affection, consumption, and how I experience the underground scene, is honestly what helped me survive."
You can feel that personal evolution woven straight into the fabric of this mix. It moves beautifully without ever feeling rushed, letting tension and release breathe naturally. It’s less of a textbook soundtrack for "starting over" and more of a reminder that real growth usually happens in the blurry spaces between what we know and what's next.
For APSŪ, the underground has been a sanctuary where we can figure out who we want to be.
Favorite track in the mix:
Kode9 & The Spaceape x Mala – "Ghostland" (2008)
"This is a track I found back when I first started digging for music. It still hits me so hard because of its organic, woody texture, and the incredible tension between the drums, vocals, horns, and ambient effects."
